Intergroup meeting – Tuesday Night @ Dulwich Hll Head Office
Feb 20 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

What is an OA intergroup?

When several groups form in an area, they soon realize that they can better perform certain together rather than separately. So the groups may form an intergroup that is directly responsible to the groups it serves. Intergroups spring from a need to provide service for a number of local groups and better information about OA in a community (adapted from OA Handbook for Members, Groups, Intergroups).

Our Intergroup is the Sydney Intergroup and consists of all meetings in NSW, Australia. Intergroups spring from a need to provide service for a number of local groups and better information about OA in a community. Separate ‘Intergroups’ make up ‘Regions’ and then the ‘Regions’ (10 in all) combine to make up the World Service! Sydney Intergroup is part of Region 10 of Overeaters Anonymous. Region Ten consists of Overeaters Anonymous meetings and Intergroups from the following geographical locations: Australia, New Zealand, Japan, SouthEast Asia, and the Pacific Islands.

Our Intergroup meets on the 3rd Tuesday night or 3rd Saturday morning in alternate months. Anyone can attend- there are no rules about this. The normal makeup of the monthly Intergroup meeting consists of Intergroup Representatives from each OA group in the area when possible, committee chairs, and the Intergroup ‘Board’, which is just a description for the trusted servants who occupy the positions of: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Region Delegates and other relevant positions.

Join your Sydney Intergroup Representatives on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7:00PM to 8:00PM at 33 Lewisham Street, Dulwich Hill

Join your Sydney Intergroup Representatives on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at 33 Lewisham Street, Dulwich Hill

ANIMALS AT OA MEETINGS AND EVENTS

The only animals allowed at OA meetings or events are assistance animals as defined in Sections 8 & 9 of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, (as amended 2009). The presence of animals other than the above contravenes the leasing agreements for the venues hired to OA for meetings and OA events.

On this basis, Sydney Intergroup cannot allow animals (except assistance animals as defined) to be admitted to meetings or other OA events.

Members with assistance animals are requested to send details of their assistance animal’s registration to the Chair of Sydney Intergroup (chair@oasydney.org) and to notify meetings and events they attend that their animal meets these requirements.
